The Garden Club of Shelter Island, Inc.

                                                    PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Dear Members,

As the 2008 Garden Club year begins, let us each take a quiet moment to appreciate all that we have accomplished as a club, and all that we have become.

Our club has made this island home of ours a more beautiful place; gardens that we have planted and nurtured grow beautifully, greeting us all over the island.  Trees have been planted in memory of our members.

We have hosted a wide variety of programs and flower shows for the benefit of all, always in an effort to share our respectful appreciation for the beauty of nature:  whether it be in natural habitats or cultivated gardens; woodlands, meadows or seaside; or in a carefully arranged floral arrangement.

Education is a vibrant component to our club.  Our youth program is growing and as successful as ever.

As a result of all this, we have become a service club which is recognized and respected throughout the community.

Let us, then, with the same sense of commitment, service, expertise and enthusiasm that so exemplifies our members,  do it with quiet dignity and heartfelt “appreciation for the glory and awesome beauty of a single flower”.  This, therefore, will be our theme this year.

I look forward to working with you.

Sincerely,

Carole Read
